FSI launch Concept Evolution™ web-enabled CAFM at Tune in to FM at Microsoft, Friday 3rd October 2008

More than 100 Professionals from the FM industry gathered at the prestigious Microsoft® offices in London in early October for the official launch of Concept Evolution™, FSI's new and fully web-enabled CAFM solution.

John Moriarty, FSI's Managing Director, launched proceedings with a presentation of the current economic climate, and how FSI has reacted to this with the creation of Concept Evolution™: as a web solution, Concept Evolution™ is easy and cost-effective to deploy and maintain.

Next up was Gary Bark, Sales Director for GridLogix Inc.  Gary's presentation provided an insight into the offering of GridLogix Inc: a business focused on integrating real time information between building and business systems, generating significant benefits, with significant return on investment across Energy, Maintenance, Security and Compliance.

Karl Horner, FSI's Technical Director, introduced Concept Evolution™ to the audience.  Concept Evolution™ is a web enabled, complete CAFM solution, and the next generation of FSI's multi award-winning Concept™ CAFM range, retaining key features, functionality, and crucially compatibility, from the current Concept™ range.

Concept Evolution™ has been developed by FSI in response to the market: organisations now face changing geographical boundaries and complex business problems as corporate mergers and acquisitions change the way that traditional CAFM systems are used.  FSI constantly witness Concept™ used not just as an internal FM tool, but now used from the front to the back of the supply chain with a more diverse and demanding set of users.

Concept Evolution™ has been developed 100% in the UK.  FSI felt it was incredibly important to do this, because by retaining the skills within the UK, this allows FSI to continue to be agile both in business and development.  The development of Concept Evolution™ encompasses, through a rigourous feedback mechanism, the requirements of the wider FM industry.

As a Microsoft Gold partner, using the Microsoft London office to launch Concept Evolution™ was particularly appropriate, as the solution has been built using 100% Microsoft technology.  Using the .NET architecture and modern design principles, FSI have produced a rich web line of business application.

Jon Clark, FSI's Senior Business Solutions Adviser, provided a demonstration of Concept Evolution™, which was very well received by the audience.  This was followed by the Concept Evolution™ clinic: a chance to have hands-on access to the solution.

The afternoon session kicked off with Iain Murray, Chairman of the BIFM, who discussed what the BIFM is doing for the FM industry.

Under the banner of the BIFM new mission statement ("To advance the Facilities Management profession"), Iain's aims as current chairman include the launch of the All Party Parliamentary Group for FM & Sustainability.  The continued development of FM entry-level qualifications (including a Construction & Built Environment Diploma) as well as FM apprenticeships, an ongoing 'Chairman's Blog' and attendance at Europe/World-wide FM events will ensure that Iain's two-year service at BIFM Chairman will be anything but dull and quiet!

James Senior, Channel Partner Manager at Microsoft®, rounded off proceedings with a passionate presentation regarding software as a service.  This was followed by a panel Q&A session and an additional Concept Evolution™ clinic.
