Concept™ Scholar Selected

Rachel McDonald has been selected to receive the FSI Concept Scholarship worth £15,000 to study for the DBA (Facilities and Property Management) at Sheffield Hallam University. FSI, developers of the Concept range of CAFM Software, have undertaken to provide the funding for the tuition for the four years of study. Rachel is Director of Facilities Management for the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust. Her Doctorate will seek to find out how FMs within the NHS can make better use of the information age. Her chief concern is that currently FM staff in the NHS deliver data via ERIC, the NHS information system, to the Ministry of Health to demonstrate that they are meeting Government targets on a whole range of clinical and non-clinical areas. This data is not used by NHS Trusts to improve the way the business operates. Her study will examine the current situation and ultimately suggest solutions which could result in the automation of data collection and a better understanding and use of information collected by NHS Trusts themselves.
